Every third Sunday of the month, enjoy free music in the Ackland galleries. A wide variety of performers can be found - from classical quartets to live DJs - to enhance your museum experience. In addition, the Ackland also features special ticketed concerts throughout the year.
This Sunday will feature a performance from singer and guitarist Jim Gilliam, who'll put his own touch - part Billie Holiday, part Louis Armstrong - on a selection of jazz classics from the 1930s and '40s. Featuring drummer David Shore and upright bassist Bob Brower.
This Sunday, enjoy the music of the UNC Woodwind Quintet, a prestigious group of undergraduate players featuring Katie Stuwe (flute), Stephen Rouse (oboe), Andy Warwick (clarinet), Caresse Bridge (french horn), and Jessica Kunttu (bassoon). They will be performing a number of works ranging from the classical to the modern, including quintets by Anton Reicha and Malcolm Arnold's Three Sea Shanties.
2:00 - 4:00 PM
This Sunday, after taking in the art on view in New Currents in Contemporary Art: UNC-Chapel Hill Master of Fine Arts Exhibition, experience another area of artistic achievement at UNC-Chapel Hill: our talented undergraduate music majors.
