Beautifully inscribed Qur'anic verses like those affixed here are symbolic and constant reminders of the word of Allah. Devotees strive to memorize extended passages from the Qur'an and may employ portable prayer boards like this as visual aids. Muslims' reverence for the language and text of the Qur'an has meant that only the unchanged (and unchangeable) canonical Arabic version is considered the word of God, hence its use here. There is no ritually acceptable version in another language.
