was one of the gopi girls to whom Krishna became especially close.

are dearer to me than my life, comely Radha. As I am, so are you,there is no
difference between us. Just as there is whiteness in milk, and heat in fire, and
fragrance in earth, so I am I in you always." (Dimmit & van Buitenen,

"At their wedding the begetter* himself had Krishna and Radha
bow to him, perform the ceremony of the marriage thread, and make the seven
circumambulations. He also made Radha circumambulate the fire, and made Krishna
