( Wav) We use gloves whenever this sculpture is handled or moved, because we don't want the oils from our hands to touch the bronze. In the gallery, we cover it with plexiglass to protect it from touching, as well as the possibility of vandalism or theft.

A good installation allows you to focus on the objects. The Krishna is one of the stronger pieces of Indian art we have on display, and it has a place of prominence. It's on one side of the gallery on a path that leads to another gallery. It's not too high or out of the way. It's out away from the wall, so you can walk all the way around the piece. You want to see it from all sides, because it's beautiful from many different angles.

All of the pieces in this gallery are from Asia and to walk into the space and be surrounded by them -- I think that makes some people a little bit hesitant until they know something about the pieces. Of course, that's why education and the written labels are so important.
