| On the Streets presents only one of the many important and intriguing aspects of Paris as a city. Throughout the winding French capital’s streets, landmarks, people, and ideas are connected. People gather on the streets to buy and sell, to socialize, and to travel. For example, La Dame Indigne by Robert Doisneau is a photograph in which a woman onlooker is awed by a nude painting she sees in a gallery window while walking down the street. Herb Seller, a photograph by Eugene Atget, shows a young boy attempting to earn money on the streets of Paris. The streets of Paris are constantly busy and full of life. They serve numerous purposes and bring many people and ideas together. |
