Carolina Collectors
June 8 - August 17, 2003
A group of seven collectors lent eighteen works to Defining Moments: Two Centuries of Photography during the first half of the exhibition. These contributions to the show augment the strengths of the Ackland photography collection as well as address important gaps. The contribution of these collectors enables the Museum to provide the public with a more comprehensive survey that documents photography's influence in shaping how we view the world.
The installation of these photographs on freestanding walls within the gallery represents the fourth in a series of mini-exhibitions at the Ackland that showcase the artworks of collectors residing in North Carolina and alumni and associates of UNC-Chapel Hill living across the country.
