Intimate Immensity
A popular dictionary defines home as a place where
one lives, an environment offering security and
comfort, a place of origin and/or the place where something
is discovered, found or developed. Using this broad
notion of home as a starting point, I seek spaces in
public and private places that explore dualities within
our worlds. I am interested in seemingly opposing forces
such as interior/exterior, life/death, presence/
absence, (wo)man/nature, reality/fantasy, and the moments
where the oppositions come together as one. I do not
intend to resolve the relationship or connection between
the two, but hope to create a sense of ambiguity where
the intersections are in a state of flux. Are the trees
emerging or disappearing from the blanket of fog? Do
the curtains create a hiding place from the outside
world or act as a means to escape the domestic space?
I am interested in the simple details of everyday,
often overlooked spaces, and with the help of the viewer's
imagination, hope that these photographs may open up
new worlds in which one may dwell.
