Mother and Child:
Strong and Tender Connections

June 1, 2004 - September 1, 2004

Throughout history, artists have explored the strong and tender connections between mothers and children, interpreting these relationships within cultural and historical contexts, while allowing universal themes to emerge. In this exhibition, mothers and children appear in bronze, silver gelatin prints, lithographs, etchings, and other media. The works present some of the many aspects of this primary relationship - love and nurture, suffering and pain - and invite the viewer to consider their own connections. These images also raise questions about the needs of mothers and their children providing rich opportunities for reflection. This exhibition is designed to engage mothers, fathers, grandparents, caregivers, and their children.
